Boson

Bosons are elementary particles and transmit the forces between fermions. They are particles with whole spin.

Explanation

The bosons from the standard model transmit three fundamental forces of nature: the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force and the electromagnetic force. Gravity is not taken into account.

History The name "boson" (Greek: heavy) comes from the Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose (1894 - 1974), who has made exceptional contributions to quantum mechanics.
