A constant is a fixed value, that doesn't change in a calculation.

 


Explanation

A mathematical constant has no dimension.

 


Example 1

The number π has the value 3,1415….

 


Example 2

Euler's number e is the nullary function f () = e and has the value 2,7182….

 


Example 3

The Boltzmann constant kB has the exact vakue 1,38064852 × 10−23 J/K.

 


Example 4

By definition, Planck's constant h has the value 6,62607015 × 10−34 J·s.
