Natural exponential function
The natural exponential function has the base e and is written as
f (x) = ex = exp (x)
Explanation
Exponential functions play a central role in mathematics. The number e, the basis of the natural logarithm, has to do with that. Because of this, the constant is abbrieviated by the letter e - from exponent.
Example 1
Logarithms can be written as
ln ez = z or ln (exp z) = z
az = ez ln a or az = exp (z lna)
