Error messages

On a Casio calculator you can get error messages.

Example 1

To enter 1 ÷ 0

					Ma  ERROR
1	÷	0	=

or 0 ÷ 0

					Ma ERROR
0	÷	0	=

or 0⁻¹

					Ma  ERROR
0	X⁻¹		=

Dividing by zero always produces a message.

Example 2

To enter 0⁰

					Ma  ERROR
0	Xy	0	=

although it is determined by definition that 0⁰ ≝ 1. Take that as a warning.

Example 3

To enter √−2

						Ma ERROR
√		(−)	2	=

The square root from a negative number always gives a message.

 

---

Example 4

To enter 2 (−) 1

			2-1_                 0.					Syn ERROR
2	(−)	1				=

A negative sign cannot be used to perform a subtraction.
