Vector

A vector is an element of a vector space.

 


Explanation

You can imagine a vector as an arrow with start point A and an end point B. It has a length and a direction.

A vector is a geometric object with a norm, a direction and a sense.

 


Example 1

The strenght of the electric field is a vector quantity, and has a direction as well as a size.

 


History

The term vector was introduced in 1837 by the Irish mathematician William Rowan Hamilton.
