A constant is a fixed value, that doesn't change in a calculation.

A mathematical constant has no dimension.

The number π has the value 3,1415….

 


Example 2

Euler's number e is the nullary function f () = e and has the value 2,7182….

 


Example 3

The Boltzmann constant kB has the exact vakue 1.380 649 × 10−23 J K1.

 


Example 4

By definition, Planck's constant h has the value 6,626 070 15 × 10−34 J s.
