Gravitational self-energy

The idealized gravitational self-energy EG describes the difference between the mass distribution in one of the quantum states in superposition and the mass distribution in an other state.

Explanation

It can be seen as the energy that it would take to disperse a gravitationally bound system into its gravitating constituents, taking out to infinity.

Example 1

For an unstable particle, the quantum superposition |ψ would decay to either |1⟩ or |2⟩ in an everage time τ of the order

    ℏ Reduced Planck constant

History

This theory was in 1967 developed by the British mathematician Roger Penrose.
