Path integral

A path integral is a way of formulating non-relativistic quantum mechanics in terms of action from classical mechanics.

Explanation

An action describes how a system has changed over time. It is equal to the integral over time of the Lagrangian.

History

American physicist Richard Feynman launched the concept of the path integral in 1948.
